Hello,

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is John. I am basically a self taught wood turner, having studied by watching videos, reading books and practicing the art of producing by turning whenever possible.

My background is as a manufacturing engineer in the airframe and aero engine field for forty-five years in the U.K. and also here in the U.S. My introduction to wood turning was totally by chance. After retirement I decided to occupy my time by working in cabinet shops, one of which had a number of wood lathes. I became intrigued at once and started turning - I was "hooked". I bought a wood lathe and the rest, as is said, is history.

Woodwork has always been a passion for me, but now I have determined that turning is the ultimate experience. Studying as much as I have over the last four years, I have realized that inside that tree lying on the ground as a result of storms, urban development, or other misfortunes, there is a "shape". The challenge then becomes to reveal it so that it becomes a truly shapely work of art - pleasing to the eye, and in many cases functional as an artifact, useful to us on many occasions.

This, then, is the challenge. One that I am excited to take part in, and in so doing, I trust that this sense of excitement will be perceived by those that view this website. One rule I have is that as a consumer myself, I only wish to purchase items of high quality. Thus, if I offer merchandise to you, the consumer, it will be of a high quality. If I would not purchase it, then I will not offer it.

I look forward to the challenge of providing items that are functional, artistic and appreciated, as well as a pleasure to own.
